Born and raised in Maine, Mike lives in Phillips and proudly represents the people and values of western Maine. An avid outdoorsman with a deep appreciation for Maine’s woods, waters and traditions, Mike believes strongly in family, community and country. As a businessman, veteran and public servant, he brings a practical, results-driven approach to leadership and remains committed to listening to the concerns of the people he represents and standing up for what he believes in.
After graduating from Gardiner Area High School, Mike enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he attended the University of Maine at Machias. His strong sense of independence and entrepreneurial spirit eventually led him to start his own business—a fitness equipment sales and service company that he successfully built, grew and later sold.
Mike has also served his community and state through a variety of leadership roles. In 2015, he worked to advance the Zadroga Act, legislation that reauthorized the World Trade Center Health and Compensation Fund to provide monitoring and treatment for health conditions related to the September 11 attacks.
In 2019, Mike was selected by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Census Bureau to lead all field operations in Maine for the 2020 Census—his third census assignment. When he learned that Maine had historically ranked last in the nation for completing census operations, he and his team developed a strategy to change that. As a result of those efforts, Maine completed its assignments ahead of schedule and finished first in the nation, making history.
Today, Mike continues to serve the people of Maine through his work in the Legislature. He serves on the Labor Committee and the Environment and Natural Resources Committee, where he advocates for responsible policies that support working families, protect Maine’s natural resources and strengthen rural communities.
Mike is also active in civic and community organizations. He is a member of Gun Owners of Maine, the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine, the American Legion, and the National Rifle Association, where he has earned an “A” rating and endorsement. He serves on the Franklin County Republican Committee and has signed the U.S. Term Limits Pledge and the Americans for Tax Reform Pledge, reflecting his commitment to limited government and fiscal responsibility.
Throughout his time in public life, Mike has remained focused on ensuring that the people of Maine are treated fairly by their government, that taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly, and that rural communities receive their fair share of strategic investments.
Mike remains committed to fighting for Maine values—supporting working families, protecting constitutional rights, and ensuring that our government serves the people first, not the special interests.
Platform:
The Economy
A strong economy starts with the government staying out of the way. In the Legislature, Mike has supported policies that lower taxes, encourage job creation and ensure rural communities are not left behind by decisions made in Augusta.
Small Business
Local businesses are the backbone of Maine’s economy. Mike has pushed back against unnecessary regulations and supported pro-growth policies that allow entrepreneurs and employers to expand, invest and create good paying jobs.
Recreational Tourism
Outdoor recreation plays a vital role in the region’s economy. Mike has worked to promote tourism while protecting Maine’s long-standing traditions of hunting, fishing, guiding and outdoor recreation.
A Parents’ Bill of Rights
Parents deserve to be the primary decision-makers in their children’s lives. Mike has stood firmly for policies that protect the rights of parents in matters of education, health care and upbringing.
Protecting our Second Amendment Rights
Defending the Second Amendment is a priority. Mike has consistently opposed efforts to restrict the rights of law-abiding gun owners while supporting Maine’s traditions of hunting, sportsmanship and responsible firearm ownership.
Fairness in Women’s Sports
Girls deserve a level playing field in athletics. Mike supports policies that ensure girls’ and women’s sports remain fair and competitive by keeping biological males from competing in female athletic divisions.
Support for Law Enforcement & Secure Borders
Mike supports the men and women of Law Enforcement, including Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He believes they should have the resources needed to enforce the law and keep communities safe— especially in rural Maine.
Voter ID & Election Integrity
Confidence in elections is fundamental to our democracy. Mike supports common-sense voter ID requirements and believes that only United States citizens should be able to vote in American elections.
Pro-Free Speech
Free expression is a fundamental American value. Mike supports policies that protect individuals’ right to speak freely and express their views without government interference.
Affordable Health Care
Access to quality, affordable health care is critical, especially in rural communities. Mike supports efforts to reduce costs, improve access and limit the bureaucratic barriers that drive up premiums and restrict care.
Veterans & Law Enforcement
Supporting those who serve is essential. Mike has backed initiatives that ensure veterans receive the recognition and benefits they deserve and that law enforcement officers have the resources needed to keep communities safe.
